BOH: DEAL BY JUNE '02 - A BANK OF HAWAII OFFICIAL SAYS THAT A KEY GOAL OF THE BANK THAT IS CLOSING ITS MAJURO BRACH IS TO HAVE ITS STAFF TRANSFER TO A NEW OWNER. STAFFORD KIGUCHI, A HONOLULU-BASED BANK OFFICIAL, TOLD THE JOURNAL "ONE OF OUR GOALS IS TO HAVE OUR CURRENT EMPLOYEES TRANSFER TO THE NEW OWNER." HE ADDED THAT THE MAJURO BRANCH STAFF ARE WELL TRAINDED AND WOULD BE AN IMPORTANT ASSET IN INSURING A SMOOTH TRASITION." HE SAID BUSINESS OPERATIONS ARE "CONTINUING AS NORMAL AND WE DO NOT ANTICIPATE A SIGNIFICANT FLUCUTATION INACCOUNTS." AS A RESULT OF SALES ANNOUNCEMENT. IN RESPONSE TO JOURNAL QUESTIONS ABOUT POTENTIAL BUYERS, KIGUCHI SAID THAT THE BANK COULD'NT COMMENT ON POSSIBLE BUYERS. IT REMIANS OUR EXPECTATION THAT WE WILL HAVE THE TRANSACTION COMPLETED BY THE MIDDLE OF THE YEAR, AND AT THIS POINT IN TIME, WE HAVE NO INDICATION THAT THIS WILL NOT BE THE CASE," HE SAID. BANK OF HAWAII HAS BEEN MAJURO SINCE 1988 AND HAS 14 EMPLOYEES.
